2020 Schedule

Over the years, the Where Are All The Black People diversity conference and career fair has become renowned for its incredible keynotes and panels, as well as for its many opportunities for attendees and agencies to get to know each other better. Circumstances have caused this year's edition to move online, but we took those circumstances as the opportunity to make WAATBP 2020 bigger and bolder than ever!

This year's action is spread out over three insightful days and includes an all-star lineup of speakers, panelists, and presenters, all covering a variety of topics.

No matter if you're a student who has yet to set foot in the advertising industry or a longtime veteran of the business, you're sure to find something that will appeal to your interests. In addition, we have tirelessly worked to replicate WAATBP's famous portfolio reviews and recruitment stations in a digital space, making it possible to get advice on your book and chat with your dream agencies from the comfort of your couch. Finally, this year introduces our very own Masterclasses, a series of small expert-led workshops where you will be able to not only listen and learn but contribute.

The conversation of diversity in the advertising industry is as old as The Gap, the moon landing, and Sesame Street, all of which are over fifty years old. So yes, a long time. Talent has been a revolving topic around many initiatives, programs, conferences, and water coolers for the same amount of time. In a virtual world we need virtual solutions to get entry level talent past the job boards into the interview chair and eventually landing a role.

Keni and Rebecca are two thirds of an advertising talent tricycle along with Ericka Riggs from the Ad Club New York formed to develop and prepare young BIPOC advertising talent for the challenge that comes with entering the diversity deficient industry.

Angela Davis said, “I have a hard time accepting diversity as a synonym for justice. Diversity is a corporate strategy.”

While having a diverse workplace is vital, diversity cannot exist without equity and inclusion. Hear from industry leaders about how to retain diverse talent and create a workplace that makes space for everyone.
