FOR THE CULTURE was the perfect way to celebrate Juneteenth and kickstart all things WAATBP just in time for our fall conference. That eventful night, we learned about the holiday’s history, discussed Black autonomy in Corporate America, and had a special video appearance from the grandmother of Juneteenth herself — Ms. Opal Lee. Watch the recap here.
“Where are all the Black people?” That was the joking-but-not-joking question that fell from the lips of a guest at a party hosted by renowned advertising agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners party in the 1990s.
With that remark, it became crystal clear that there was a diversity problem. That is why this annual conference exists—to address and correct the scarcity of people of color within the advertising industry.
